Sorry - posting from a mobile and can't get the image the right way round! God how middle aged do I sound ... having trouble with this new fangled technology thingy!

Good starts from everyone.

Kodabble: Your first sketches are always good and this is no different. Animal expressions are tough to do (for me anyway) but that looks just right.

Susie: (Or is it Maid Marian?): That flayed skin is disturbing. And I like disturbing! More, please. :)

I'm still at the tentative scribbling phase (until I finish my Virgo pic. Two challenges a month is quite …erm… challenging!) I've been thinking of a couple of ideas, one of which is one of those symmetrical, creepy, Giger-style faces. So far I've just been finger-prodding on my tablet so it may change greatly when I switch to PC…

As I'm working predominently in black and white at the moment I thought I'd give the challenge a go. I also need some impetus in finishing an image.
So here we go:
The Danger of Pot Holing.

Basic tones down, still need to add the pot holer absailing past the eye. May well crop it to a rough cinematic proportion but I'll lose a lot of the gnarly skin - which I quite like - in order to bring a better sense of scale to the piece.

No smudge tool was harmed in the making of this image.

Nice idea, Atto. The similarity in shape between the eye and what we expect a cave to look like creates a nice bit of confusion in the viewer's mind. Should be good when you get all the details into the figure.

A bit more of my creepy doodle. Not sure where it's going, I'm just making it up as I go. I'll probably break the symmetry later on when I've got more of the detail filled in.

Looking at Gigers process of creating images I doubt he ever had any idea of where his art was going either so at least you're in good company.

Oh wow great progress Val! Looks really like HR Giger! Really creepy thing. Hey... did you realize that THIS face isn't looking like the others you normally paint? A progression! :woohoo:

As I said I thought a long time about this challenge. I had a few ideas in mind but as I painted them in my mind sooner or later I always had an imagination of colors in my thoughts. So I changed the ideas a lot of times.

The last 2 days I had another idea in mind which doesn't need any color I hope. I think this will work in black and white. :)

I call it Masquerade

.... yes... the lines are colored.... I know! :silly:

Excellent start Cherry! That long slender neck gives it a classical elegance and the eyes have a lovely clarity to them.

Thank you :)

I'm now not really sure if I want to put the mask on her face because I like her face xD But I'll try... :)

Ehm.... did I get it right - we can use ONE single color to accentuate something?

Yes, a bit of colour should be fine to draw your attention to something. :)
