CGAN Oct 2014 Challenge - Dead of Night - WIPs
Some thoughts that may help (or not
- The hand looks rather clean and fresh which kind of gives me the impression that the poor corpse is trying to escape the grave AND the zombies, not that it's part of them... (maybe it's not even a dead person but someone who was buried alive, poor thing. Zombie dinner is served!) So you could lessen the pinkish flesh tone and add some dirt (and maybe rot or visible bones) to tie it in more with the zombies.
- That said, I don't think the image would suffer much without it. You could perhaps crop out a bit of the bottom so there's not so much "empty" area before the tombstones and zombies...
- And if you want to fill that area up a bit, I suggest a hint of text on the tombstones (which you may just not have gotten around to yet) and maybe a wreath or bouquet (probably wilted) on the nearest grave instead of the hand.

Cropping. CROPPING!
Why didn't I think of that?
Well actually I know why, I'm afeared of cropping because I paint at such low resolutions (1K. Artrage is so very slow) but in this case I think it'll solve quite a few of my worries.
(I've only just discovered the Thank You button so I think I'll press it now!)

Reminds me a little of Mark Ryden's work , strange animal, disturbing child etc.
I know it's at an early stage so I don't want to interfere too much, but keep an eye on that composition, having the main characters towards the edge of an image and facing outwards can unbalance a picture sometimes.
Looking forward to seeing some more value and colour.
