Yeah, that didn't work. The mentioned problem was indeed a slight problem but then a whole load of other much greater problems joined in the mess.
Let's just stick to the Banj method.

The Shrinkwrap method worked really well for the arm...

 

...but that's obviously because it's a simpler cross-section. When I tried that method across the body it ended up snapping vertices all over the place.

And I've now realised that when doing that first strap I should have remeshed with QuadFlow rather than voxels. Perhaps I should have used that for the body too and then I wouldn't have the pixillation (voxellation? ) around certain areas that need more details like hands, ears, eyelids etc.
I was gonna fix those with Dynotop but that deletes all the vertex colour information.
Why can't it interpolate the colours??

there are voxel shrubs or something like that in Subnautica....?

I bet they look like lots of cubes.

actually.... no.... but they don't look very much like flowers either, I guess.

They look more like N-Gon shrubs to me.

Maybe they just didn't think n-gone shrubs had the same nice ring to it?
