April challenge here: Elder God
March entries - Egg Bunnies
Vaguely Recognisable Faces
The Lenna, uncropped
I'm still not 100% certain about the position/angle of the head. I could take a little longer nudging it this way and that to find the sweet spot but I've wasted too much time on this already.
And a couple of Star Wars characters...
Mace Windu.
And the Grand Moff Tarkin.
I'm sort of pleased with the varied skin colours on that last one, even though that pic took the least time. Still, the transitions on the ears could be a bit more consistent.
And all three likenesses could be better but that's the way things are going at the moment.

I was trying to do one of his older photos in the style of one of his younger photos.
The likeness isn't quite there but it looks OK as a thumbnail.
And although I usually run a mile from Artrage's watercolour tool it was fun doing all those stains.

The aged photo look is great, too.

Yes, it was while I was lurking over at Wittygraphy that I realised the thing about the forehead. It should angle back more in a curved way, something you captured perfectly in your version, and looking at the challenge entries everyone seemed to notice this except me.
I think I was a little too obsessed with the hair contrivance and overlooked it. I sometimes get too focused on such gimmicks and end up blinding myself to something more obvious and more effective.

The comical design, coupled with his non impressed gaze is a perfect balance to draw interest. And the old fashioned style and values are perfect together, don't change anything looks perfect!!!

to the Bertrand Russell portrait too! Brilliant Please Log in or Create an account to join the conversation.
Random internet face for some pretty portrait practice.
I learnt quite a bit about using desaturated tones under the eyes during this picture.
An attempt at Michael Phelps.
I quite like the top half of the face but I think there are possible likeness improvements to be made with the mouth/jaw.
A young Julia Roberts.
This was a struggle. It's just about passable but I did not enjoy the hair at all and lost all my patience with it in the end.
But if I dump it here then I'm now free to try some challenge ideas, otherwise I'd only continue to fiddle and get frustrated.
And thank you, micro and Kazky.
Feel free to add whatever symbol you like. Although that still continues to look like "less than three" to my eyes.

I adore Julia Roberts though, despite you saying it's passable, i think it has a very strong resemblance, certain elements are spot on imo.
