Thanks.
I saw an image or two with rath[€r scraggly railings and thought I[ don't want that, but it's pretty much what it ended up looking like anyway. And I figure for an october challenge that's OK :aha:

After much research yesterday I worked out how to move some vertices to flatten the faces in the roof.

Apparently the vertices in the roof are STILL not as flat as I would like.
And there are doubles. I don't know why.
And there's an extra boundary edge at the bottom. I REALLY don't know why! :dunno:
And I tried to do a front door and some pillars and... well...

I'm also trying really hard to not use the built-in architecture add-on but this is tricky. :S
I'm much more comfortable scultping lumpy things. :)

Well, I think your house looks good too, though of course I can't see the double vertices :P

Edit:
I didn't really get much done today. I fixed the doors and walls and realised I needed to fix the floors too, then I had to fix the walls again and then I made balcony doors (and realised I had widened the hinges as well, when I fixed the doors but I couldn't be bothered to fix them again especially as they're so small you can't see them...) and then a small hatch to the attic (where I didn't even bother with hinges or the handle needed on the other side of the hatch, for the same reason as above...)

Yes . :stare:

I've never actually tried it but its mere presence is taunting me through these difficult times.

You don't seem to be having any such problems though as that is looking enviously good.

It's just boxes and cylinders with a few boolean modifiers and one torus, thrown in :dumb:

Actually... Now I'm thinking about it... I do know why.

I'd forgotten about that extra extrusion I did. :giggle:
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
But I know how to clean that up. And I think I can solve the flatness thing by ditching the Solidify modifier for the roof. I'll have to nudge it around a little but it should work.

Yes, it should work. :aha:
...at the second attempt.

Next? Windows. :stare:

Not just any windows. :nope:
Windows with frames that stick out too much, that don't actually have holes, that are probably not the right scale and no doubt have many other errors. :S

Also I've just noticed that the front roof bit doesn't extend enough at the sides.
Not sure how I can fix that without creating more problems.
I'm sure no-one will see it if I keep quiet about it.

Unfortunately all the roof is connected so extruding the edge outwards messes up the join with the back roof bit and if I extrude it downwards in an edgeslidey way then that messes up the vertical alignment. I also tried selecting the entire boundary of the roof around the whole house and scaling and/or fattening it slightly but it wouldn't stay as a straight edge around the corners.
The only other option would be to make that bit of the house narrower and I can't do that cos it's mostly modifiers and-
Oh, wait a minute.

Maybe I CAN do it exactly because of that reason? :hmm:
This is what happens when you don't fully understand what you're doing.
Let me try it. :brb:
