Loving the colors :) I can be hard getting cool shadow colors too look right on warm base colours but you did that nicely.

For the hands, I traced the refs and yours for comparison. The lifted hand is pretty much OK, though I'd suggest a little refining on finger shapes. The second one looks broken to me. And maybe most importantly it's not actually holding the gun, as it does in the reference.

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.

Going to chime in on this one too.
The point where her leg meets the boot on the forward leg also seems to be missing part of her calf muscle too as we glimpse it behind her shin (just below her knee).
I checked and it’s in the line drawing but not in the coloured versions.
It’s really just knit picking though, it’s great work!

No smudge tool was harmed in the making of this image.

I worked on Pirate Girl some more and corrected the lighting. Also lowered the contrast of the background a bit as it was too distracting before, hopefully it works better now. I'm calling it finished for now unless there's anything off that's noticeable!

Next up I worked on a pin up sketch for Harley Quinn. Quite happy with this one, I opted for something more simple this time as my previous illustrations were more complex, so I waned to catch a bit of a break. Any feedback would be very helpful before I begin the painting process on this one, so please feel free to leave any input!

Ah sorry guys didn't check out this particular page so I had no clue there were replies!!!

Charlotte: Thank you for that, that illustrates the point quite nicely so I'll incorporate your input by the next update (will rework it one final time!)

Atto: Great eye, I definitely missed that and will see if I can correct this by the next (and hopefully final!) update. Thanks :D

Glad to hear you'll take another look at those hands :)
I also think the ship still looks a bit too simplified... I looked up a ref that is somewhat similar in looks and placement:

For Harlequin, again, I think you need to work more on the hands....

Charlotte: I did indeed, thanks again for the sketch, was a huge help in terms of getting the right posture for it, I feel the hands is much better now! Great point regarding the ship as well, just revised it to bring more detail!

.................

OK some updates on the current pieces. 'Pirate Girl' I think is done for now, revised the hand and ship a bit, hopefully it's OK now!

Next up is the Harley Pin Up, I began the painting process and it has come quite a long way. Initially I wanted to do something more colorful for the background but it was drowning out Harley who has a very desaturated tone, so I went with a blue color scheme to make her pop out a bit. It's still fairly early but I'm pleased with how the face is turning out!

Any input is appreciated as always :)

It seems horribly ironic for me to comment about hands ("Physician, heal thyself!") but for the lower right hand I think the index finger should be longer and the transition from the back of the hand into the wrist looks a little awkward. If I was painting it I might even select that hand and nudge it a little further to the right to emphasize the wrist angle a bit more.

But then again, I'm rubbish at hands so...

Lovely clouds though. They look convincingly fluffy! :)

Valence: Great point regarding the index finger, the hands in this one were a bit difficult to to their gesture and angle. Glad you dig the clouds as well :)

.............

Current update, it's almost done!! Will probably work on it for an hour more to do some final changes and some subtle effects, probably a bit more motion blur and such to make it more convincing. Any feedback is appreciated!

Now that you've worked more on it I think that you should definitely move that lower hand to the right. The forearm (and therefore the bones inside) are not lining up correctly with the "heel" of the hand.

Everything else is looking pretty good to my eye. :)

Valence: Thanks, I altered her hand a bit based on your input, hope it works better now!

............

I had the chance to add the final touches to the image, decided to go with a bright background set during the day as it felt more right for this sort of scene. Also messed with the shape of the text so it looks more natural now. I think I'm calling it done for now! Thanks to everyone for their input, always appreciate it. Here is the final image:

Will be taking a very long break from digital painting and will be focusing on improving my drawing skills, both digitally and traditionally. So I'll have a bunch of studies on anatomy and such shortly, going to study the legs first as I feel I can improve much in that regard.
