The birds that live in my living room freaked the hell out when I put on the headset. Playing stopped instantly

Maybe you looked like a falcon with it's little cap on? Or a very big fly. No wonder they freaked. You'll have to set it up in the basement or garage instead...
Sorry to hear about the bunny.

Meanwhile back in Morrowind...
My quests in Balmora have now completely stalled. I still can't do the pickpocketing in the proper way for the Thieves' Guild, the next Fighters' Guild quest puts me in conflict with the Thieves' Guild and I really don't want to kill Sottilde (I kinda feel some kind of loyalty towards her because she purchased those stolen diamonds that I was trying to offload when I was struggling for cash back in the day.) Also that quest seems to confirm my suspicions that at least some of the Balmora Fighters' Guild are in league with Camonna Tong (they're the gang of "bad" people that some other folk want me to take out.) Also the Mages' Guild there still won't give me any more to do until I level up enough to gain "advancement."
And so I've been off again to Ald'Ruhn to do some more jobs for their Mages' Guild. Last night they sent me off to sort out some trouble in a place called Maar Gan. Where? Never heard of it. I haven't been there before so it doesn't show on the big map. But wait- I remember picking up a guidebook to Ald'Ruhn so I had a look and sure enough there was a little map in there with an arrow pointing to Maar Gan. So I set off a-walking. And walking. And walking. I initially thought that it was a little area on the outskirts of town but it soon became clear that Maar Gan was apparently an entirely different settlement that was many miles away and that the arrow on the map wasn't pointing directly to it but was merely indicating the general direction, in much the same way that New York obviously isn't at the end of my street but is indeed in that direction!
So I kept on walking, and of course I had to walk really slowly just so that I didn't get "tired" because you know I was gonna encounter some annoying creatures and I had to be free of fatigue in order to actually hit them. And there were so many creatures! Especially those annoying cliff racers that swoop down AND, because I was close to the Ghostfence (whatever that is,) they were all diseased as well. So I killed and killed. And walked slowly. And killed. (At least it's boosting my combat stats.) And walked slowly. On through the winds and the surprisingly convincing dust storms that slow you down even more. I passed a pilgrim that wanted me to take him somewhere. (Escort mission at this time of night?? No, thank you!) I encountered another pilgrim that was kidnapped after pretending to be a noble man. (I set him free for 5 coins and got nothing in return.
If only I'd looked it up on an internet guide beforehand.

*EDIT: the days pass quickly though. In mere minutes it feels like. It's always pitch black when I'm exploring, except apparently if I explore caves because the sun is always shining when I exit the cave - only to disappear shortly. It's one thing that I feel is off with Subnautica. Not the dark nights but the way time and hunger passes quickly while distances take "theoretically" forever. I mean, you walk a km in 10-15 minutes in the real world. You don't need to eat and drink at the end of that walk, in order to survive...

You don't "sell" Morrowind. You don't even "play" Morrowind.
You "live" Morrowind.
It's not a game, it's a way of life.
Strangely, the banal, over-realistic obsession with tiredness combined with the complete lack of those usual forgiving game mechanics make it rather compelling and rewarding in way I wouldn't have believed if I hadn't pushed through those first frustrating two hours.
Anyway I did complete the Maar Gan quest. Apparently a mage's apprentice had summoned a Scamp that was destroying the hut, so I had to dispatch the little fellow. Although at first my sword wouldn't make contact with him. "Why can't I hit him?" I shouted at the screen, "It can't be down to tiredness cos I've been slowly resting all the way up here!" Then I realised that the Scamp is a magical creature and can therefore only be killed by an enchanted weapon.
