Suggestions for Monthly Challenge Brief

Yeah I didn't put the final thread up because of all the login issues and I figured it wasn't needed until towards the end of the month. Regarding briefs we were originally thinking the shorter challenges should be the open themed ones, but like Banj said there's currently not enough participation to keep 2 or 3 different sets of challenges going...

Oh and by the way the current challenge actually does mention the bit about boldly going where no man (duck) went before... Albeit in a brief...

Well perhaps your not getting more participants in the monthly because it isn't open concept - one of the reasons I have not been too interested, Its also something that has been mentioned to me by another member...so something to keep in mind.

Anyways- opened themed suggestions for the monthly (probably not gonna do the shorter ones because of work)

Are members allowed to start their own challenges independently?

yes they are, though if everyone did it at the same time it might be a bit messy. But yes.

What if he had a fun side challenge this month. It occurred to me earlier today we could do a pumpkin/gourd carving contest with a ghoulish or witchy theme of some sort. Just a quick thought.

Any ideas for a cheery and maybe christmassy (or just wintery) december challenge?

Title: Ornamental

Description: make your own ornament. You can make a literal ornament of create a circular design for an ornament. (We could make it sci-fi/fantasy turned, or since it's Christmas, leave this challenge a little more open-ended.)

Title: Snowed In

Description: Depict a wintry landscape or scene for a Christmas card from CG Art Nexus!

Title: Jingle Bell Rock

Description: Santa, the elves and the reindeer are finally done for Christmas! Depict them rocking out or partying for New Years!

YAY! Christmas is the best season of the year Pleaaaaase. Let's have a GREAT christmas theme - winter is even in january and february and march and... oh please.

Title: Santas Workshop

Description: Show us how YOU think Santas workshop looks like, classical or fantastical or create a spooky christmas workshop like Tim Burton showed us in Nightmare before Christmas. Are the elves really elves or are they daemons with cute faces who play with children's wishes?

Title: Night before Christmas

Description: What do you expect when you hear this? Create a christmas story - it's up to you!

I am a bit fed up with all the holiday themed stuff. Let's have some more original themed challenges.

Like Rourke said, they should be open themes so that there is a best possible participation.

...Just for starters! The white as snow challenge has been great fun, so I hope the next one will garner the same level of artist participation!
