CGAN Jan 2020 - MEAD (Finals)

MEAD

Brief: Concept artist Syd Mead passed on December 30th 2019. This is a chance to make a tribute to him and his work on Blade Runner, Tron, Aliens etc - or, if you prefer, to the beverage. Or both.

Rules in brief:
- All challenge entries must be your own work.
- You should post at least two WIP images that are clearly different from your final entry and each other.
- Your final entry should contain your image (inserted so it shows up full size) and at least two links to your WIP posts on the forum.
- No chatter in the finals thread – if you have questions, post them in the WIP thread or PM an admin.
- Feedback is allowed & encouraged together with the voting and in the WIP thread.
- Deadline is given in UK time (midnight GMT) with a grace period of 5 minutes for getting the post sorted.
- Each member may cast one vote.
- No cheating! Admins may decide to disqualify an entry that does not adhere to the above rules.

Atto the vote is for.

This one looked great from the start. Instantly recognisable and beautifully cinematic. Was worth the vote straight away but then you added the portrait and made it even better. The subtle way you introduced it into the background with a reflection is convincing and also poignant and that takes the picture even further, turning it into a genuine tribute to the man.
And that tribute is exactly what the brief was supposed to be. So ....
I vote Atto!

Thank god you didn’t just rip off the great mans designs like that other entrant did!
It’s still Tron but it’s a reworking that, to me, is an alternative version of the movie. A bit like Bladerunner was a reworking of ‘Androids....’.
Those ellipses work really well and the colours mimic the movie perfectly.

Congrats Atto! Even though you called someone old who was born in 74! (yes, I checked, you naughty little tyke you!)

also, I forgot to vote but I think I would have voted Atto, though I like both end results. I really like the inclusion of a billboard Mead It's a great tribute!

I don’t remember calling anyone old!? Certainly not someone born in 74 as I was born in 76! But I guess your memory slips as you get old huh?
