Nice work on the paining, and I'm glad to see you here, your style is one of my favourites from the IFX group - I like the thought process involved. I don't necessarily find your pictures as polished as some, but you seem to be making good progress on that too. :)

Thank you Stuart for the kind words :) Trying to get good solid finished work is hard, I do great on the sketches, but my finished products often seem to end up just missing the mark of the idea somewhere along the line. For now, I'm just having fun with doing Greyscales for the Zodiac challenges. Perhaps one of these days it'll click and I'll make something that's just totally flawless! Until then, one day at a time, I suppose!

Just said in my thread last night how good this is looking. Can't wait to see the hair and the rest completed. :) The shell came out quite nice. Are you going to color this one?

I get sketchy around pencils! ...=D

I'm really not sure, Dave. I feel like it should for this one, but at the same time, I've been toying with keeping all the zodiac pieces in Black and White for submission and playing with color for them later.

This piece is quite more personal than the previous ones for many reasons which I think is slowing me down on it a bit... as well as that hair! But we'll see what I come up with. I'm trying to figure out if I've gotten too tight with this work or if that sort of thing works for my style. Looking at a lot of other's works I suppose I'm just trying to figure out where my stuff is going to settle.

evil,
Hopefully you checked out the final in the Zodiac Cancer Challenge? If not, you should. The finished work is really beautiful.

Thomgirl,
You could try coloring it, but keep a grey scale copy, I think it works as a black and white (has a traditional pencil drawn look).

So... It's been a really long time, too long, but it's about that point in my pregnancy where I have just been so tired most of the time. I have literally done NO art for like a month :p I got some assemblance of a sketch stared for the Leo challenge, but then my exhaustion kicked in with the final trimester and I've just been too pooped to do anything but just lay around. It's an odd thing for me since I am typically very active, but such as it is. Apparently it's hard work growing another human being inside yourself :p

So I have like a month left now in this 'duty' and I wanted to of course do some paintings for her 'nursery' so today while my husband got me to tag along with him to the firing range I dug up my old sketch book and a pencil and got to work on some design ideas. I am doing a drawing of a Kirin (mythical asian 'unicorn') and a Jackalope (North American mythical rabbit with antlers) as my muses. First up is the Kirin and this is just the overlay sketch I did in PS once I scanned in the traditional sketches. I'll post those later, but I'm, surprise, surprise, a bit tired right now to do the resizing and stuff... and hungry.... ooh... spaghetti....

We've missed you! It's good to hear you've only been tired :) I hope we'll get to see more of the nursery paintings soon!

It's good to be back! Got an update for the Kirin. Surprise, surprise... I'm doing a crap ton of hair work... scales will be added in on the body probably post coloring. Have no fear that I would leave those out for you fantasy animal fans out there!
Also including original sketches as well from my day at the firing range.
