Well, I did indeed end up having to work all day today. Been out here since this morning and still waiting for my relief to show so I can go home. And not a single drop of rain has fallen! :) ... But I did get some sketching in, when not watching Netflix. Just a major pain to try and sketch sitting in a small jeep all day, and balancing the clipboard on the steering wheel. - If I ever get home tonight, will try to scan them in, or have the wife do it and send them to me via e-mail.

I'm looking forward to seeing the sketches.
I normally take pictures of mine with my phone and post them from there.
This is assuming you have a smart phone.

So basically your work is sitting in a car all day waiting for rain? What's the job title of that? :P

I wish I could take time off to draw at my job :)

Thanks Gix, and yeah I would have done that too, but I sketched up until I started loosing light, and the Jeep I was in didn't have a whole lot of room to set it up proper. So just thought to scan them from home. ... The wife actually did scan them in last night, but I just checked and they didn't come out well at all. Will have to scan them on my scanner when I get home this evening. :)

Um, yep.. at least that was my job yesterday. :) All the pumping stations are fully automated, but because of some system failures in the past, (some beyond our control) they have been using us to monitor the stations during any substantial rain event, or like yesterday, if there's a chance of some. (They don't want any more bad PR, so having someone present to trouble shoot any issues (mechanical or electrical) is their justification for having us there. But it's costing them quite a bit to do so. - I haven't been working them as much as I used to, but we have some here that jump at the chance, and can make an additional 20 - 25K a year doing so. ... But on days like yesterday, you have to bring something to do when it's not raining. :)

Well, this sucks. Apparently when I upgraded to Mavericks, my scanner is no longer supported? Then I tried to get it connected to the wife's computer, since her's is acting up. But again, it wouldn't connect. (Will be picking out a new one very soon I guess) ... Well, messing with the settings on hers, I was able to get them scanned in better, but to me they still look a little rough. - I actually had to take them into PS to crop them. But I also had to set the layer to multiply, and then duplicate the layer just to darken them some so they showed up. So this is the best I could get them to scan for now.

just started doodling some characters here.

Then started this one, but was hard to work near the edges being I was using a clipboard & leaning on the steering wheel, so had to forgo working on any of the outer portions. Also had to keep taking breaks, when my arms ached.

Then started fooling with these guys, but ran out of light.

Why thank you young sir! Appreciate the kind words. :)

I actually just created a post in Hardware help, asking members their opinion on whether it's better to use a scanner or digital camera to scan in pencil drawings. Was thinking about producing some fully rendered pencil sketches and would like to get some input before purchasing anything.

Thanks again

Yeah, but if they install too many button, nobody will want to type. :silly: ... Well took an hour or so off from working tonight, and played around with one of the characters I sketched the other night. Rather liked how he was looking, and was even a nick-name of mine from some at work. Played around with the idea of putting in a young lady with him. :)

Well, while waiting for some spackle to dry, I decided to throw some color down on this one. Wanted to try something new (for me at least) but tried to apply the color messily, or more over quickly, allowing/hoping it would help give a jungle-ly feel to it. (yeah, just making up words now. :) But liking how it's starting though. (I also duplicated the line work, 1 to keep as a guide if needed, the other I'm painting over, and even used the smudge tool to spread it around some.)
