PLEASE NOTE: The information here may now be outdated and this thread has been replaced by the FAQ help section found in the help menu or by clicking this link: cgartnexus.com/index.php/help/faq if you have any questions not covered there, please post in the Feedback and Suggestions forum

Contacts of interest

Who ya gonna call? Well, not Ghostbusters, you need some admin moderator types to help you out round here. So if you need assistance contact...

Note: there is a known issue with username links displaying the wrong colours for admin/moderators, ignore it it's probably HAL.

Profiles and accounts:

You can access your profile by either by clicking the profile button on the main menu, or by clicking your own username or avatar on the forum (clciking another members username or avatar will allow you to view their profile).

Your profile gives you access to a number of options for editing your user details (changing your username, password, and updating your email address details). You can also access your user panel for uploading artwork to the gallery. Any images uploaded will also be displayed in your profile along with any favourites selected by you.

Messaging:

You can send a private message to another user by clicking their username to visit their profile, and then select the send message option. You can also send a private message by clicking on the small speech balloon below the users info and avatar on their forum posts.

You will be notified about new messages in your inbox at the top of the site near the login/out button (Note: this only updates after a page refresh).

Gallery:

As mentioned above you can upload artwork to the gallery from within your profile. You can access the same user panel while browsing the gallery by clicking the (conveniently named) user panel link on the gallery pages. There you can select the file to upload, name it, and select an appropriate category for it.

Artwork submitted to the gallery should be in JPG or PNG format. Maximum file size must be less than 1.5mb, and should be under 1500x1500 pixels. You are limited to a maximum of 100 images in your gallery. Make sure that when uploading images that you want to be displayed in the gallery, that you select the "Published" option or the image wont appear and will be hidden from public viewing (you can alter whether your artwork is published or not in your user panel at any time).

While browsing the gallery you can comment on images, add favourites to your collection, and add a rating. The gallery also provides a couple of handy BBCode links to the image which you can use to share the pic elsewhere, or to paste into a forum post here.

Forum:

Members are required to complete a reCaptcha for their first 5 posts on the forum. Apologies for the inconvenience, this is for spam prevention and security, and after 5 posts you are free of the irritation and can post freely.

Also, watch out for HAL. HAL is the resident anti-spam bot bot who patrols the corridors of the forum smiting spam and the occasional genuine post attempt. HAL is cruel, merciless, and has an evil sense of humour it seems (and if he causes you too many problems let us know in the suggestions forum). A known issue with HAL is that adding URLs with the post editor can sometimes lead to him interpreting your post as spam and he will immediately throw it away.

File uploads to the forum are limited to a maximum of 512kb. Image files must also be under 1024x1024 pixels along their longest dimension. It is possible to attach multiple files to each post, if you want attached images displayed within the content of your post then click the insert button after selecting the file to attach. Supported file types for images are JPG (either jpg or jpeg extensions acceptable), PNG, and GIF. Other file attachments allowed currently are: TXT, RTF, PDF, ZIP, TAR, GZ, TGZ, TAR, BZ2.

Note: files will only be attached once you hit the submit button, so wont appear in the post preview. If you don't insert the image then it will simply attach as a thumbnail at the bottom of the post which will open in a lightbox when clicked on.

Note 2: Important! While the forum will normally attempt to rename attachments detected with the same file name as an existing attachment, it is advised to give your files unique names to guarantee you uploads wont be replaced by the newer version.

You can also embed video into your posts from the likes of Youtube and Vimeo using the little filmstrip icon in the post editor and inserting the URL of the video. This is handy for the tutorial forum if you wish to post video tutorials.

If you are subscribed to a topic you will receive an email notification for the first new post to that topic and shouldn't receive any more until you log in next time.

Search Functions

There are two search functions available on the site. The first of these is a global site search which allows an advanced search that provides site wide results including forum and gallery entries. This global search is usable from the search string top right of the forum (above the latest posts list), and in the footer menus (top option of second menu).

The second search function is a gallery specific function that will limit results to gallery submissions only and is found unsurprisingly on the gallery page of the site. This allows users to search the gallery images without the need to navigate away from the gallery itself.

This is my signature.

Emoticons

Hidden Emoticons

The following list are the codes for emotes not shown directly in the post editor. The same emotes are now available in both the forum and in the Private messaging system.

Note 1: Some of the codes for these differ to the codes used in the PM emotes, but as the PM emotes can be selected visually this shouldn't cause any problems.

Note 2: Please use sparingly (i.e. don't spam a wall of emotes and annoy people :aha:)
