I agree with kazky there, having a point to the magazine and not just creating it for the sake of creating it, is kind of vital...

First off I think we can promote the forum.
Next we could probably raise few donations for the forum.
Third: It would give more of a reason to enter the competitions on the site (now that the weekly challenges will no longer be in IFX
Fourth: for the LOLs
and finally: I guess I wonder if a team of people could make it easier than one man in is bedroom creating it on his own.

Hmmm, I'll have to think more about this before I commit to anything,

This is more like testing the waters to see if it is possible and who would be interested.

I would be willing to help with the indesign stuff and some advice, but aside from that...

Well, to be honest I think if we want to "test" the idea of a magazine we should do it on a smaller scale and not actually produce a magazine at all to begin with. I think it would be better to see if we can produce regular "content" by trying to get various members to post threads right here in the forum, on requested topics. Say if em..'s fantastic with caricatures (and he is!) we ask him if he'd have time and inclination to do a small workshop or article on caricatures. And so on. If we can't manage that, there's no way we could ever run a magazine anyway.

The forum is new and I think making the forum work well for everyone is a top priority, everything else is just bells and whistles. (Sorry if I'm a bore.)

That was the point I was trying to make, we have created this forum for everyone, we want all of the information to be accessible here, and it will be.
At the moment we are just a baby forum, but not for long :)

No worries. You are right of course.

Still recon we need a Facebook page though so we can at very least get some kind of social media presence. That way we can highlight important or interesting threads.

I have InDesign as well as experience mocking up magazines and newspapers so that is something I could help with at some point. Creating something of the same quality as IFX is probably a stretch at this point, but it is an interesting idea. I think Charlotte is correct that we should focus on building the forum and generating content here. What we could use a magazine for, though, is to highlight some of the best content generated by this community over each quarter. Sort of a Best of the Forums update, with some special content added in. It would be another way of archiving interesting forum content (which, if this site grows to anything like the proportions of the old IFX forums, things will end up lost under stacks of threads) and a way to reach non-forumites and get them interested in CG Art Nexus.

Just my two cents. I'm certainly intrigued by the idea, but I also know it would be a lot of work. And while I am relatively free at this point in time, my situation could change in the next few months, so I am reluctant to volunteer for certain.

Well, why don't we run with the suggestion and make a newsletter type thing that's posted in the forums. A little bit of gallery space, an interview with a forummer, maybe the odd workshop. That would certainly be interesting.

There are currently no official plans in the works to make a magazine just yet. Facebook etc. pages are already under consideration (though again, no immediate plans have yet been finalised). I think people should just enjoy the site for what it is so far and not get too swayed by the excitement of something new and shiny to play with. It's only been online for a week.
