Well I always said I'm a cat person.

But no, micro, it's not a self-portrait. I've never done one, never will and instead will always flee from any nearby camera. :argh:
All of these are portraits from Reddit. Speaking of which...

I keep practicing these dogs but they don't seem to get any better.

I should just stick to hoomans.
Or cats like me! :giggle:

aw that head look like a staffordshire terrier! Though the legs - or rather that lifted one - would be far too long for those little round powder kegs. Is it an amstaff or some such?

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.

That would be something to see, a cat's self portrait, I was hoping to catch a glimpse of the real life Val, but I think hes a covert CIA agent deep undercover as an artist.

I can't spend a lot of time on images these days, but started doing small greyscale studies, just trying to use imagination only

I suspect you might be right Micro, seeing how secretive he is about everything except art :P

Really nice light in those studies, especially evident in the small thumbnails :)

...staffordshire terrier... ...an amstaff or some such?

I have absolutely no idea.

I can recognise the difference between cats and dogs but any further subdivision is somewhat uncertain. But I did try and exaggerate the legs to try and make the paw "pop out" of the pic.
The head still looks terribly flat to me. It's a bit easier to draw dogs when they're in profile or a three-quarter view but that straight-on look is a painful struggle to me. Not as bad as hands though. :P

And I agree with Charlotte, micro. The light in your pics is wonderful. The first one, with that high key glare, is very well controlled and the darkness in the other gives it a moody kind of drama.

I now have to go back to those secret agent duties. ;)

I'm not sure I can tell either. I still think it looks like a staffie, but that leg looks much too long for them so it probably isn't. Or it is  (Google Image search says it probably is though I'm not sure how it'd know...)

They are indeed. And the American staff is also long legged like the Pitbull. :hmm:

p.s. Cats. That is all.
