I don't think the colours look very muddy. But one cheek (the one we see) does look a bit smeared with white paste... and the other look a bit like it's missing... :zombie:

I did want a lot more of the face to be "missing" but it didn't work as I'd hoped. It seems like I'm always looking for new ways to paint less and less.
All in the interest of style, of course, nothing to do with laziness or anything like that. :nope:

well, someone once painted an all black canvas. Maybe you'll be world famous as the artist with all white ones...

A quick suck scribble of someone who looks absolutely nothing like Ryan Gosling  :(

But the band aid is spot on! :silly:

I looked for the ref pic and I guess those don't really look like typically him either? At least not the ones I saw which were animated clips. On the other hand, I wouldn't have known him even if he did look like himself, he's just vaguely familiar to me...

The eyes look pretty accurate. Without looking at any reference I would say that Ryan Gosling has a more pointier chin.
At the moment the wider chin and fuller face is giving me a bit of Ryan Reynolds or a young Matthew Macfadyen.

I do like these sketches with patches of alternating cross-hatching. It gives an image a sense of dimension and texture in a sparse but efficient way. When I try it I just end up with a terrible Etch-A-Sketch effect.

*had to look up Macfadyen* Oh, him... Honestly they all look pretty much alike to me

Actually i'm starting to realise that everyone seems to be confused with someone else in my head... Not just Damian Lewis and Toby Stevens or whatshisname, but I watched "Shetland" last week and was wondering why someone who'd lived on the island her whole life in one season, was a younger visitor to the place in the preceeding season... Turned out they weren't the same.

I wish everybody did look the same.
It'd make portraits a lot easier. :P

Didn't quite get the nose right on this one. I could've wasted more time nudging and/or shading but I'd had enough of it for today... and every day after.
