Thanks. The neck/shoulder was a bit of a pain because of the blotchyness of the sculpture in that area. I had to try to even that out a bit which meant me losing any shape, really... Maybe I'll add a little stroke of light some day. (Not likely, though! :P)

Great work Charlotte!

Here’s a little thing I did of a very close friend who passed away in 2007 which I’m not entirely happy with (but that’s not surprising as I have the feeling nothing would be good enough when it comes to the memory of a loved one) and the rough layout for that commission I mentioned.

I think that portrait is really good. And I'm looking forward to seeing more of those doggies :)

Doggies! :excited:

Meanwhile I've been at another of those slooow acrylic ones. :eyeroll:
And I also had terrible trouble trying to photograph this. None of the white balance options on my crappy tablet camera would produce the actual colours I could see with my real shortsighted eyes. :dunno:
So a bit of post-processing colour correction took place to get it to this level. It's still a bit off but it's as close as I can get....

I think it looks lovely! That hair can't have been easy! :)

I wish the hair strands were a bit thinner. That's one of my recurring annoyances with acrylics. In order to get thin strokes you have to thin the paint down so that it flows easier, but then it becomes transparent so you can't work light over dark. So you add some thick opaque white and then the strokes go fat and blotchy again. :rage:
Also that distant eye is not quite right. It's close, but slightly out.

I may work a little bit more on it next week for my own "satisfaction" but the "post-on-the-Internet" version will stay as it is. :)

Love it Val! I’ve now been drawing only digitally for so long I’m all thumbs when it comes to traditional media.

Worked a little more on the dogggies. I’m getting loads of great feedback from the client but that also means it’s going pretty slowly. Today she decided (finally) on a basic colour scheme of blue and orange/tan. I think I may have to curb her enthusiasm with the input though so I can get it sized up and work on the final.

That's very patient of you.
I would hate to have to deal with that.

I have no input apart from saying that it's looking fantastic. Keep it going. :)

...and an awkward, angular thing that I couldn't quite finish last night.

This was a bit of a shoddy rush job after I'd finished gaming. There's a million things wrong with it but... time says it'll have to do.

The terrific reference really deserved another couple of hours work.
