Some experimenting with ArtRage watercolour (yes, yes, most of it was done with the airbrush but at least I've done more than just paper stains this time. :P)

Regardless of technique I think you portrayed that face really nicely. I'm not crazy about the "dribbles" below her, though.... I'm guessing that's the watercolour?

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.

Yes, your keen eye has accurately seen through the subtleties of my "technique".
I was trying to use the watercolour as a vignette around all the edges (not just the bottom) and then painted details into it with the airbrush.

I have now worked out how and when to use the InstaDry option but it's still awkward selecting colours. It's hard because there are two ways to use lighter colours, you can just pick one from the wheel or choose a darker one and thin it, and the two options don't quite behave the way I expect.
I'm now thinking that it might be more intuitive to not use the colour wheel at all and instead use some real paint swatches with the water thinning slider.

And here's a quick oil brush sketch that I forgot to put in the last post.
Could even be a scribble...

Finally had enough of this deadline missing thing.
For people who don't follow the challenge it's supposed to be Patrick Stewart as a Victorian version of Professor X.
But it could equally be a Steampunk Captain Picard "making it so" back in the day. :P

I could still have cleaned it up a bit more but I'm sick of looking at it now.

After writing this off I had another go at those watercolours and also tried out some linework too...
...
...
...and the fact I haven't posted those pictures should give you a hint at how well they turned out.

They turned out so amazingly well that you decided to keep them from the internet to prevent anyone stealing them. :aha:

...buying...

You seem to have mis-spelled "burying".
And that's definitely what those pictures needed. :)

After another failed attempt at sketching Christmas Elves (they're worse than Patrick Stewart's hands!!) I did some more reddit scribbling instead with an oil portrait and a very quick stylized nude.
