"i dont know why i keep going", I was away over the weekend and saw this quote on a bag that immediately reminded me of you Crank.

"Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever could"

Keep it up Crank, some excellent new posts on here and I second Vals thoughts on that post above!

No smudge tool was harmed in the making of this image.

I'm feeling a bit mean here, but really. WHAT do you want to accomplish with your human studies? If you don't care for them at all, then don't do them. If you want to paint humans, paint humans, don't draw a robotic skeletal structure.

I abused a stock photo to make this example, I admit it. :pirate:

Anyway... Compare the structure I would do for her pose to the structure you would do (last sketch). When it comes to adding skin and flesh they both gove the same result but the first takes seconds. I haven't tried a perfect match to the model here - I think that's important too; you need to be aware of what you're aiming for. A sketch to learn proportions? The details of the armpits and elbows? A super realistic portrait? Either way, you use a simple structure, add form and THEN refine it and use the reference image for detail work, such as the curve of a nose or cheek (if you want it to look just like the ref, that is...)

Again, I FEEL mean because I feel like this has been said a million times and you keep trying to perfect a make-believe skeleton that won't even be visible in the end. So I hope it isn't really mean, even if it feels that way. Try to focus on form and surface for a bit, rather than the inner structure.

Lovely interior. I like the choice of the orange-coloured light at the far end. It plays of nicely against the dominant blue tones.

I certainly wouldn't completely give up your anatomy work. It's just very easy to get stuck on one method when it isn't working.
Maybe you should find a way to combine it with the hard-surface stuff you feel more comfortable with. Like drawing a pic of a complete figure but doing it as a sci-fi robot-cyborg thing. Changing things up a bit might help to push you through the difficulties.

It might help if your questions were a little less criptic. I'm guessing that you are asking about the arm on the figure in the first image (but that's just a guess). That would be his triceps contracting as his forearm is extended (the opposite of the biceps contracting when you bend your arm).
