It's a global criminal offence not to have seen My Neighbor Totoro (at least it should be).

Actually I haven't seen it either, in fact I...

Oh, wait, there seems to be some strange animated policemen knocking at the door. Seeing as I've done nothing wrong I'm sure I'll be back in a minute to finish this message.............

Lol you guys are quite the cast :P I actually have a whole family of Totoros. I'll post a pic soon.

Really thinning myself as I'm doing so much at once and everything's too messy to show. Update on the still life and some anatomy fail.

Couldn't agree more, with Val, not you Crank. Theres some real improvement there not only in terms of structure and proportion but in gesture too.
I think we all plateau every now and then before a sudden burst of improvement and maybe its this fustration that you feel.
The more recent times I have encountered this I have spent quite some time looking at professionals work who I admire to see how I may be able to take my drawings further. I think its massively important to search out those artists sketches and thumbnails too as these types of work often reveal hints at how an artist handles the construction of a subject. If you want to draw like Leonardo look at his sketches first, don't try to jump right in and paint the Mona Lisa!

Wow thanks Atto! I remember someone saying that Leonardo wasn't as perfect as most people thought he was. In fact he didn't become successful until much later. It's just soo hard to see light at the end of the tunnel when things get frustrating. Gotta keep failing.

If you can't see an improvement in those first two pics then you should book an eye test at your nearest optician's!
I know it is hard objectively judging your own work but there's a huge difference there that you should be proud of and one that should inspire you to keep at it.

And I love the cuddly toy in the photo ref! :cheer:
What on earth is it??

Thanks Val! I gotta stop looking at those 16 years old on deviant art!

Updates! Busy busy busy! Changing jobs and moving my giant tool box is no easy task. Progress is dipping a bit but here's some junk.

Anatomy stuff (was going to say fail but I'm taking the advice of others :P )

Still life.

Sketchup tank wip. Design thumbs/exploration of shapes then 3d. It doesn't look like much but it's really hard making sure things can work and that a person can actually fit/use the controls in there.
