CGMythology's Sketchbook (nudity)

Trying to take things at a much slower pace now.  I finished up a recent personal illustration I did for fun and something that was quite within my comfort zone so bringing it to life was a blast.  Below is the image followed by some steps for those interested.  Feedback is welcome as always!

I like the cratered texture on the top of the skull. It looks like all the character's memory and history is etched into the bone. :)

Valence:  Thank you, glad you enjoy those details!!!

................

I did some final refining and a bit more detail work to the image.  I think I'm gonna call it final for now unless there is something majorly off with this one.  Will take another short break and focus more on my lighting studies before tackling another big painting.  Thanks again to everyone who posted with their support and suggestions as always!

I started work on a new painting.  Initially this was just supposed to be a photo study and a practice in drawing and painting angel wings.  I liked how it was progressing so instead of deciding to 'stop' early I decided to finish it as a full illustration.  I'm really happy with the colors on this one, really pushed them as much as I could.  Below is the current preview.   Any feedback is welcome as I want to make this image as good as I can, so if something feels off please let me know:

Given the yellow/blue lights and colours the white in the dress and wings feel a bit too white, to me. There could probably be a bit more colour in the greyish shadows of the wings and maybe the white should look warmer rather than bright cool white in the lower part of her dress, but other than that I have no complaints :)

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.

Charlotte: Great point with the colors on the lighter parts of the dress and wings, just went ahead and added some subtle golden light to them.  Great suggestions and I'm glad you dig the image! :)

Valence:  Appreciate it!

I had to teak a break as I had issues with my mental health once again.  I'm focusing more on self-care and less on work related projects at the moment to help keep me balanced, and it seems to be working fine so far.  I had time to refine the current image and do some studies:

I also started work on a new image.  Initially this was going to be a simple photo study, but I decided to do something more creative and went for a depiction of villains from the 'Batman' series, and I think it worked quite well.  This image is quite complex as I spent quite some time on the sketch alone, but I'm very happy with it and look forward to begin painting it shortly.  Before I begin however any feedback would be appreciated, so if something looks off or can be improved, please feel free to let me know!  Below is the sketch followed by the reference:

I think the warmer hue on the dress did wonders :)

As for taking breaks and not working too hard, you seem to suck at that.
That new pic is really ambitious. But a good ambitious I guess :P
At first glance I felt the Joker's arm seemed overly long but comparing with the ref that's probably more an issue of adding form shadows. I think I'd take a look at a couple of the faces though. The Riddler (?) looks a wee bit off around the mouth and chin, though I think it's mostly the chin. It might be a bit small and the underside should "bulge" a bit in that position, I think. As for half-face or two-face or whatever his name is (I'm not overly familiar with Batman so I might be making names up, here) I'm not sure he should have any "lip lines" on the injured side of his face? There'd still be the edge of the skin I guess but it should be rather thin and not as lip like as in your sketch.

Those are my thoughts, anyway :)

The thing that stands out to me is the hand holding the gun. The three fingers on the grip seem to be behind the trigger rather than below it and it makes the geometry of the gun look very wrong.

Charlotte:  I agree, thanks again for your suggestion regarding the dress!  And yes, I'm a bit of a workaholic.  I don't have any freelance work at the moment so I'm just working on some personal illustrations which I'm having a blast with, thankfully.

Made some changes on the current image based on your feedback, thanks again!

Valence:  Great point!  Refined it a bit and hopefully it looks more natural now, please let me know!

I spent a lot of time on this image bringing it to life, and I'm quite happy with it.  Came out pretty much as I had in mind which is always great.  There's probably some errors here and there that I became 'immune' to for working on it for so long, so any feedback on what doesn't work or could be improved would be quite appreciated.  Below is the current painting followed by the steps for those interested:
