Inspirational Images - Not copyright free!

15 Apr 2017 00:44 - 15 Apr 2017 01:03 #15791 by Atto
I spend a vast amount of time trawling the internet for images that inspire me so I thought I would share a few of the best that I find. As the title says these are not copyright free so don't be going doing anything naughty with them boys n girls!
I'm going to try to keep each post to a single artist or topic but this will probably fall by the wayside very quickly.
Oh and for those of you on face book theres a page that posts a few very good artists every few days:

Nothing to forgive Val. I thought I'd start this thread to share some artists that others might not be aware of. If you all can do the same then it'll be a much more interesting read.

Excellent links Val thanks - thought these were particularly fine examples from both sites.
Artists unknown - no I couldn't be bothered to find out - sorry!

After seeing his Ed Sheeran portrait on the news the other day I've been enjoying looking through Colin Davidson's work.
Exactly the kind of style I wish I could do.

Those are excellent - Thanks Val. So expressive and dare I say it, raw I also love the way the portraits extend into the background space, echoes of highlights or colour that seem to suggest to me a time lapse and movement as if the sitter is constantly in flux, they've just arrived and are soon to depart producing a narrative of history and future.
Or am I starting to sound like an art teacher now?

Any way Michael Carson - love his use of colour in these.

oh I love these!
*admits to not loving Davidson's work* (One or a few portraits that style is fine but that "time lapse smear of the background was done in every picture and it turned it into more of a gimmick to me...)

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.

I like the style, but some of the likenesses - Brad Pitt and Kenneth Branagh come immediately to mind - are pretty poor.
