I hope they will mention it in some way, but as has been said, it's nothing to do with the IFX team, Claire, Beren, Gary and all the others, they have always been awesome and have promoted the new forum on Facebook for us, so it will be down to Future, and if they want to bury it, I guess it will be buried.

It's interesting that many are saying they may not carry on with the mag, proof that the forum wasn't just a by-product of the mag. I'm so pleased we created this place. It was definitely needed.

I think you're correct, Kaz. When I joined the forums, I also subscribed around the same time. (early 2009) and I always felt or saw the two as being part of a really great package. Though I do enjoy reading the mag, to be honest, a lot of the time (mostly the past couple years) I found myself skimming through and reading only select articles, and not cover to cover as I once had. But I do have plans to go back and read through the ones I didn't complete.

But in that time, I got way more out of just being part of the forum itself. Not just from critique or advise you got from other members, but the utter enjoyment of getting to speak with fellow artist and sharing a love for art itself. Or getting to share and watch as others created art. (and this would sometimes include the talented folks that were regularly featured in the mag) This has always been something I rather enjoy, watching how others work. - This, as well as seeing challenge winners featured in the mag, or having discussions with the community about the mag, always kept the two connected.

I still can't say what I am going to do either? I'm still subscribed at the moment, but have to say without having those links to the mag anymore, It's possible the interest may dwindle even further. :dunno:

I agree with Dave. I don't really see how deleting the forums will have a positive correlation with the magazine sales. No matter who made the decision, logic was left out somewhere in this mess. Either way, while I do not hold any of the ImagineFX staff responsible and realize they did their best... their is no way to really contact the magazine, I have actually tried to on the phone, and no such luck.

I sent them a letter detailing what a bad decision that was. I hope they got flooded with letters complaining (not that it would make any difference to those who decided), but honestly I no longer have any need or desire to visit the IFX site. The forums was the only thing that drew me to visit regularly (and I said as much in my letter). They will definitely take a hit on their visitor counter--but whatever. As has been said before, overall impact probably did not enter into the decision, most likely just cash flow.

The latest issue of IFX has just turned up here and there's a couple of letters about the forum closure on the letters page. There's also a mention of this here website in the reply

That's cool. Any response from the IFX folks back to the letters?

Yes, it was Clare that pointed people to this site.
