1.11.0

I don't actually know what's different to be honest. Maybe updated watercolour brushes again and improved blending?

Celsys announced  upcoming changes to their licensing last week with the following statement and one of the most convoluted upgrade systems of any piece of software I can recall seeing. This statement was met with much  a great deal of  and a combination of  and   by many existing Clip Studio Paint users.

Changes to the Windows/macOS One-time Purchase (Perpetual) Version in 2023August 22, 2022Thank you for using Clip Studio Paint.
Ten years after the initial release of Clip Studio Paint 1.0, we will be welcoming the release of Version 2.0 in the first half of 2023. Over the past ten years, across over 80 free updates, we have continued to bring new features to Clip Studio Paint. However, from 2023 onwards, the current Version 1 (the one-time purchase, perpetual version for Windows/macOS, “Version 1.x” hereafter), offered as a download and physical version will no longer receive feature updates free of charge.Clip Studio Paint Version 2.0 will offer a slate of new features to make use of in your digital art. At this time there are no major changes planned to the existing features or the UI. If you are a current user of Version 1.x and would like to use Version 2.0 without purchasing an additional perpetual license, you can purchase an Update Pass (annual), which will be on offer from next year.
Customers with an Update Pass or a Monthly Plan (purchased through app stores or the Clip Studio Paint site) will be able to use the most up-to-date version of the app for as long as their plan or pass is valid. Version 2.0 will also be available as a one-time purchase (perpetual license). You will be able to use Version 1.x forever provided it works on your device. We will continue to provide free updates with new features until the end of the year, before the app moves to Version 2.0. We will also provide free stability updates for major bugs or errors caused by the OS or specific devices, into next year and beyond the transition to Version 2.0. There are no planned changes to the access of Clip Studio Assets, or any of our other services including technical support. They will continue to be available during and beyond the transition to Version 2.0.We want to thank all of our users for continuing to use Clip Studio Paint, and for all the support over the last ten years. We will continue to develop Clip Studio Paint and hope to keep exceeding your expectations moving forward. In order to sustain the development of the app and keep providing a better creative tool in the future, this is a necessary change to our business model. We ask for your kind understanding, and hope that you continue on this journey with us.

So if you have clip studio paint 1, you need to subscribe annually to v2, but v2 will also be available for a one time purchase? :dumb:

After a recent announcement that they were going to add AI image generation functionality to Clip Studio in an update due in the next few days, they have now made this announcement saying the opposite (and amusingly paraphrase Jurassic Park in the process)

Clip Studio Paint will no longer implement an image generator function

December 2, 2022

We apologize for the anxiety and concern we have caused regarding the announcement of the Image Generator Palette on November 29.After the initial announcement, we received a lot of feedback from the community and will no longer implement the image generator palette. Here are some concerns that we have taken to heart:

  • Current image generation AI exploits other artists' intellectual property and is unusable
  • This feature will hinder rather than help artists in their creative activities
  • Using artist’s work that is not opted-in to a data set is ethically unacceptable
  • The fear that this will make Clip Studio Paint artwork synonymous with AI-generated work
  • There are existing features that need to be prioritized over image generation AI features
  • Having something unknown in the app I use daily potentially infringing on legal or moral rights is unacceptable
  • Clip Studio Paint should be an app that takes responsibility for a safe, creative environment
The Image Generator palette was developed with the hope that we could provide a new way to experience creativity. However, we had neglected to take the necessary considerations. We were so preoccupied with how generative AI technology could be used creatively that we lost sight of what our core users want from Clip Studio Paint as a creative tool. We would like to sincerely apologize.Celsys will not be implementing any image generator AI features in Clip Studio Paint that present this kind of concern, and will listen more sincerely to the opinions of creators. We will redouble our efforts to provide features that can be used with peace of mind by all artists.
