28 Jun 2018 10:24 #21516 by Banj
As the title suggests, Corel has released Painter 2019: www.painterartist.com/en/product/painter/

And Krita has just been updated with version 4.1: krita.org/en/item/krita-4-1-0-released/

I never before realised that Painter was approved by Bob Ross (Copyright) from beyond the grave. :)

Dang I've still not managed to make an updated tutorial for the previous version of Krita.... :P

I find it slightly disturbing that the only "tutorial" on Krita's download page is how to debug it when it crashes.

Time to update, then. Even if I hardly ever use it. (Some pet psd's from Aywas require the alpha layer function of Krita rather than the no such function at all in ArtRage - also known as clipping layers in Photoshop.)

I have it installed but I also rarely use it. It does have some nice options and I might sit down with it and put some time in at some point... maybe.

I still have Krita but never find myself using it.
I get frustrated by the slow launch time (ditto for GIMP, although that doesn't like my tablet and refuses to acknowledge any pressure sensitivity.)
These days I often find myself using FireAlpaca for any quick, non-ArtRage adjustments. Not sure if it has clipping masks though, I've never understood what they were for anyway with my one-layer painting style. :P
