It was kind of relentless the way that the big baddies just kept on coming. You're just about to beat one as the myriad voices say, "Behind you!" and you turn to see three more before you've even killed the first one.
But I'm past it now.
Oh, and in Skyrim I now do have Brelyna as a follower after helping her with her crazy magic experiments. So now whenever I get attacked by random assassins and bandits she sends wild lightning bolts at them and sometimes conjures up a massive Frost Atronach to fight them
We've all left the Mages' College behind now as I wanted to return home to Whiterun to see The Kid again, and my school assignment requires me to go somewhere fairly close to home anyway. (Also it's close to Shearpoint, the home of that super-deadly dragon priest Krosis so I'll have to plan another safer route around there.
)
I wanted to take a carriage to get back home quicker as I'm not sure how The Kid reacts to me being away for a long time, but there's no carriage at Winterhold. You can get one to go there but not one to travel FROM there.
Yes, I know you can just use the map to fast travel anywhere but I don't like doing that and I refuse to use it.
So I ended up walking/riding down to the stables outside Windhelm and got the carriage there. Oh, I said riding, didn't I? Yep, I've managed to get Brelyna onto a horse. Unlike Arissa (who is a mod and has her own horse) the vanilla followers in the base game won't get on horses at all so I've had to install another mod to get her to ride too and have now given her one of the many horses from my herd.
So, after all that, I am finally back at Breezehome. I walk through the door, see my dog by the fire and The Kid comes running to meet me.
"You're back!" she says. "Did you get me a present?"
Kids!
But actually... I DID get her a present.
I bought her a red dress and a doll and had them ready to give her.
