Seems to me most games are like that these days... There's always something to "just finish over there"...

More so with this as it's all about exploration and survival.

Speaking of survival I had some Jurassic Park type scary dreams last night  Why'd you remind me!?

You always dream about dinosaurs!

I think there are two things that keep me gaming until the late hours. The first one being the lack of save points in a game. Out of all the olde ones I'm still playing, the worst for this is that Indy game "The Emperor's Tomb" which has NO manual save. You just have to keep on going until the end of each level, and if it's a long/difficult one I can spend too many hours trying to get to the end so that the previous hours haven't been wasted.

The other thing that hooks me into long play is a game with a quick reset. I think this is one of the most important things in game design, even more than graphics or story or music. As long as you can get back into it quickly after you fail/die then it'll keep you playing, and when a game doesn't do that then it gets forgotten very quickly.
That was the reason I stopped playing Ninja Gaiden. Sure, it's difficult, and you often die within 10 seconds but you then have to wait 40-50 seconds for it to load the save point back in only for you to die again within 10 seconds. You suddenly find yourself spending more time watching the load screen than actually playing the game! And that ain't fun. :(

well I still play the Tribez and you don't even die in that... :P But there are always several things to be done at once which means you're never "finished" so that it feels like a natural place to take a break. Which I fell with most MMOs as well, although I tend to stop at settlements - and get my character in from the rain while I'm offline :silly:

The new final season of The Walking Dead is out and i’ve just bought the first episode. I will mostly be getting killed by zombies for a couple of days :cheer:

That's why they are called settlements :confident:
