As Valence suggested I exported from my vector program as a TIFF, opened in photoshop and saved as a JPG without any change in quality. SO there has to be something I'm missing in Coreldraw.

After having a google and a read I suspect it's got something to do with RGB vs CMYK.

Is your software/colour profile set up for CMYK in the primary colour mode? (Have a read of this if you don't know.)

If it is then the problem might be due to it trying to create a CMYK jpeg rather than an RGB jpeg (or is that the other way round?) which can make the more vivid colours look dulled because of the reduced gamut. Or something like that?!?
Sadly colour profiling and CMYK is another of those "professional artist" things that are a bit out of my comfort zone so perhaps someone else can explain better?
And Edit: I really don't know if it's a good idea to change this to RGB or not, especially if you're used to working with print. And yes, that was kind of a disclaimer on my part. :)

At least converting the TIFF in photoshop worked. Even though the extra step is a bit of a chore it's worth it to guarantee that your pictures are looking as good as they can be (which as everyone agrees is very good!)

I change the profile depending on the project (web, print....etc). My primary color mode is RGB because the design/illustrations I've been doing are for the web.. I was hoping it was something as simple and the primary color mode but unfortunately it is not. This piece is the first one I've had this issue with......which made me think of something. I wonder if the blue in the glow effect is a CMYK...................

*runs off to check.

Nope.

Lost but not forgotten I hope.

Nope, not forgotten. :)

Love the way the pale roses cut into the hair as a negative shape. Very stylish indeed!

Beautiful, Jessie :)

If I was to nitpick just slightly I wish the vignette didn't go to so very dark so very fast because I feel like I want to see a bit more of it all :)

Thanks Charlotte, and I agree. It is a bit darker than I intended.

I've been really indecisive with this one. I've considered removing the vignette and zooming into the face making the frame tall and thin. I really can not decide.

EDIT:
I went ahead and changed it and replaced the image with the new one.
Thanks again, Charlotte. It does look a lot better.
