Great theme, learned a lot about perspective, working at a higher resolution, various textured brushes and painting with a complimentary gamut palette while working on this one

Plus one for Mindbender.

I think your picture captures a wonderful mood of lonely watchfulness with that single silhouette. It manages to be slightly sinister yet also quite peaceful too.
The tower itself is brilliantly rendered with that clever pointilist style. It gives it great texture as well as making it a solid and substantial edifice with visible presence and mass.
Terrific rendering of light too. The way it catches the stones around the door and the tree braches in the darkness is absolutely beautiful.

A great picture all round and well worthy of my vote and more!

Nice images guys. Also sorry I didn't get back to mine. Just still dealing with too many things presently... I like the darker elements of both images, but also like the color and light variations in Valence's image.

I get sketchy around pencils! ...=D

Valence, thank you for all the kind words. I like the intricacy of the structures, the overall palette and the sense of isolation and vulnerability the lone figure evokes in your piece. Very well done ?

Mindbender, I like the light and texture in yours. One can really tell the tower is built of stone. But I'm afraid my vote goes to Valence for what looks like an alien fantasy landscape, somehow. Not typical fantasy nor sci-fi, exactly. But I like it, it seems like a whole different world.

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.

You know what it looks like to me?
Skyrim. Again. (Not that I'm obsessed or anything.)
Did the walk into Markarth the other day, saw the big wall with the guard tower behind and was immediately dismayed at my lack of originality.
