I've been flicking through a copy of one of those illustrated Harry Potter novels recently and I'm loving all those paintings by Jim Kay. I'd seen the odd picture on various websites before but seeing them all together in the right context is so much better, and there's so many of them in a single book. It's a crazy amount of work and yet it must be kind of rewarding to get that kind of gig with a rich world to sketch from.
He certainly earned his money with it, although I'm sure it's a pittance compared with J K Rowling's riches.

Had to google his work as I hadn't heard of him before 
But I really do like how he's made his own characters that look nothing like the actors, but are still clearly recogniseable from the descriptions in the book. Not to mention all the the details in some of the interiors...

so... in order to totally ignore the idea of valentine's day, I was planning to go to the movies today (Black Panther). But of course I have a headache 
Guess I'll have to try to settle for a semla instead. Yesterday I passed out around 6.30 pm so I never got around to making me one and as we all know, fat tuesday is THE semmeldagen. (Although to be honest I haven't had one in years since I don't eat normal bread and have been too lazy to bake for it... but sund... er... monday, I baked.
)
