Just tried to draw a hand without any reference. :S

It's not ... terrible, but.... :nope:

Hands! :pout:

EDIT: Looks less terrible now. I think I'll stick with it. :aha:

Hands indeed :stare:
Also.... all the tools. :stare:
ink pen seems to give too hard edges, crayons and pencils have too much noise, the colours are off and I have no idea what I'm doing and I keep repainting over and over and the eye dropper keeps leaving little dots where I want to pick up colours and then just keeps painting with the same colour as before so I have to either undo stuff or repaint AGAIN. *pulls hair*

And she looks sad... or something :S - not what I was going for. But I guess I wasn't really going for anything and that's what you get when you have no plan :shakefist:

I never really use the crayon/pencils because of that grainy noise that never goes away. I find custom brushes are better if you don't want any of that kind of stuff and for the initial work on mine I used the Artistic/Square Canvas 5. It has nice edges and even though there's an initial grain it smoothly goes away as you build up the brush strokes. :aha:

And you're right, she does look a little sad. It's the lower eyelid on the right side that's creating that mood. If you wanted to change that I'd curve it down a little so that it doesn't cover so much of the iris but I think it's a good expression to have in this kind of picture.

Reduce the grain size and roughness of the canvas and you can use the crayons and pencils with no noise at all. I've always used pencils in ArtRage for cleaning up edges

I usually prefer the default brushes because if I use an art brush or a custom one I can never recall/recreate the same effect between one session and the next....
(And no, I never remember saving them)

Edit: Sneaky hamster :shakefist:
But thanks for the reminder. That should reduce the graininess :)

Hand, Fairies and Foliage. :stare:

Might need to do something to unify the colours a bit more and then add some glowy bits too.
