I'm not sure lava on his knee would make much sense... :dry: But it does look like it has an edge and a highlight of its own...

I like the way the fire transitions into the thick black smoke, that's very convincing and ominous. :aha:

And the lighting is excellent on yours, Charlotte. The more saturated glow from beneath works as a great contrast to the greyer skin tones.
