Didn't bother posting until I had something I thought was worthwhile. This whole working form home quarantine thing is seriously messing with my routines (I remain healthy, so it's good to keep perspective). Hope all of you are also well (and maintaining your sanity).

After many starts and stops (with a lot of the art being dark), I went the other way. A lonely traveler emerging on the other side of a storm. More of a metaphor for what's going on--but with a positive spin of coming out okay on the other side. Putting up two WIPs in this thread to catch up.

WIP01: This is the concept sketch in blue with a filler overlay around the objects of interest.

WIP02: Working on the face.

Great work on that face!
That blue tone will work as a good underpainting too if you want to have a bit of colour showing through the brush strokes. :)

This one is one of the other more depressing concepts that I continued to work on (after I decided not to do it for this contest). I just had the idea of a small town preacher overwhelmed by all the deaths from the pandemic. I called it Last Rites. I will still finish the other more upbeat one--but I just had to knock this one out too.

Well that looks awesome!
You've been doing far too much of the good stuff this week. It's making the rest of us look lazy.

It's not discipline. It's trying not to lose my mind while staying home this long.

 some people are strange...
*happily spends most her time in one room out of the whole apartment...*

(That said, I do go out on short walks with my dad whenever the weather allows...)

Ooooh, short walks!

It must be strange being in the only country where you're allowed out. :)

Quite the contrary :P It's not too different from before.

That’s some seriously impressive work Hans! I’m loving how you’ve used that circular device in the background to move from light to dark so you can set up contrast against the figure.

Your piece reminds me more of Gravity than Passengers Val and while I wasn’t keen on the movie it really did encapsulate that feeling of loneliness in space and the (or perhaps my) fear of the lack of secure boundaries that a spacewalk must evoke. Good stuff!

I’m gonna be entering a quick one this month as I don’t have a whole lot of time. So here’s Wip 1 & 2 of my effort based off of a Sktchy ref.

Wip 3.
This is where I managed to get to tonight.
Just need to add the ‘presence’ in over his shoulder and do a last detail pass.
