Spent a few (very few!) minutes on a quick scribble the other day. Seeing as I usually paint faces or figures (and no hands!) I thought it might be good to try and do one with no people at all in the image and to just imply the meaning with a bleak looking tree twisting up away from the viewer along with the odd ominous noose hanging back down. Then again I'm not good with trees. Not as bad as hands but...

I think that lowest branch should probably get the chop. I want to try and get some "realistic" texture to the bark before abandoning it. Or maybe I could forget about my initial goal and include some kind of creepy, Ent-like face. Or not.

I do like the atmospheric perspective (and mood) in the thumbnail. The bigger version is a bit too sketchy yet, though :)

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.

Hey, let's all try and paint lots and lots of fiddly bark!
What a great idea!
What could possibly be more fun? Apart from imminent painful death.
All those nooses feel like an invitation after this struggle.
(:hmm: Is nooses really the plural of noose? Sounds funny. :P)

Yours looks great, segujo.
I really like the shadow on the ground. It leads you into the picture very well while also framing the scene.
