Looking good all - October lovely sketch with such movement and grace already.
Thomgirl - Love the twisty wood detailing you've already got on the face, looking forward to see how this develops!

All these pics are working well so far.

Atto: Nice to see a bit of texture and detail appearing in the surrounding landscape. And I do like the dynamic form of the horse. :)

Thomgirl: Even if you hadn't used the word "organic" I would still have used it to describe your picture. I can almost see it growing and twisting as if all those veiny branches are sculpting the horse before my eyes.

Madi: I don't know if you're going to keep that colour scheme beyond the sketch but I do like it anyway with those glowing blue lines against the black. Makes me think of lightning or aurora, some kind of shifting kind of energy that also mirrors the energy in the horse's pose.

Those subtle lighter tones growing out of the head are absolutely beautiful!
Please continue. :)

Agreed. The line work on here is also fantastic, all those twisty gnarly wooden forms and the clavicle (I'm guessing its called a clavicle on a horse too) appearing round that far shoulder is a touch of genius.

Thanks all for the kind words! I've finally settled into a final plan with this piece. Right now I've just been ironing out the woody parts, but once that's laid out, it will be 'blooming'. I'm so out of practice though, my shoulder, forearm, and hand are killing me.

Yeah, I hurt my neck the other week when painting. Art should come with a health warning.
But in this case the warning should say, "DANGER: Fantastic Picture Developing!" Take a painkiller, give it a massage and keep going. :)

The only thing I can suggest is to handcuff the evil hand to a chair arm or something to prevent it killing you. That's a less extreme solution than taking a chainsaw to it. :hmm: :zombie:
