Can I vote for Schizo's entry now?
All I can think of right now is Hamster Banj spinning round in his natural habitat of a dyson cylinder with all his 'dust bunny' friends!

Edit: When the shout box updates this will make absolutely no sense at all - if in fact it does to any one now.

No smudge tool was harmed in the making of this image.

A bit of an obvious one but when the obvious thing gets in my head I just can't think of anything else. :silly:
So here's a Dragonfly...

Not sure about the colour choices yet but...

A little bit more.
Not much of a difference, just been trying to make it look more solid by eliminating outlines and adding more form.

Gonna need some ref for the snorted flame and if it doesn't get better I might ditch that little idea. I also want to try out some depth of field effects to make it seem super small.

Thanks, Kaz. :)

I've been spending the last few hours trying to make it look "photographic" by throwing in every lens gimmick I can think of and doing a bit of colour correction to tone down that harsh green.

I'm not overly convinced by the wings and the eye so there may be more fiddles there and if Time is kind I may think about formatting it as a book page.

No-one else tempted to sketch yet?

Do you remember the guy on IFX forum who occasionally posted photorealistic little creatures? It reminds me of that.

PMD: www.philmcdarby.com/

or maybe Nate Hallinan: natehallinan.com/ who did stuff like the Smurf

My poor memory won't let me remember those pics from the IFX forum but whenever the challenge requires a creature I do find myself digging out some old magazines, especially issue 116 with the tutorial by Aaron Blaise.

I think I remember Phil's images if he did like photomanips into creatures? I just love his forest photos on his website though - I wanna live there! Or somewhere else with nice mossy old gnarly twisted trees and rocks and stuff. Asphalt and concrete just make for such boring surroundings :(
